Animated Images & Memes: GIFs That Keep on Giving
Ever wonder where to find memes or animated GIFs or even how to make them? In this session learn where to find these things and, best of all, how to make your own. Use them to teach all sorts of different concepts from class rules, to lab safety, to multi-step mathematical problems, and more. These dynamic images can bring static Google docs and forms to life. Even better, learn how to have students create their own!

Using Online Simulations to Deepen Understanding
How do you determine if that website is a quality simulation? Does it truly promote inquiry or do students always get the same results? We will compare different online simulations for science and math (like PhET) and explore complete lessons ready for you to use immediately. While hands on experience is best, it is not always practical or possible due to budgetary reasons or because phenomena take place on the micro or atomic scale. Computer simulations can help fill this gap by allowing students to manipulate variables and experiment in ways that they never could before.

ClEvR Lab Reports Using Video
Labs are extremely important in any science class. Students should be able to share what they have learned in that experiment, but that doesn't mean that students must always write a full formal lab report. In this session, you will learn a creative way for students to demonstrate what they have learned from the lab by creating a quick and easy video featuring a ClEvR argument (Claims, Evidence, and Reasoning). Students will be practicing their Common Core speaking and listening skills, the four Cs, and communicating their learning in modalities other than just writing.

Gamify Your Science Curriculum with BreakoutEdu
Have you heard of an escape room? It’s a game where participants have to work together to solve a series of clues to break out of a room. BreakoutEDU is an educational version of this concept, where you can incorporate your content, and students are solving puzzles and practicing collaboration, teamwork, and communication. Come play a scientific method game and learn how to make your own to fit your content.
